The Egyptian Vulture is found in the open country and in the neighborhood of human habitation and ranges from southwestern Europe and northern Africa to India. Egyptian Vultures feed mainly on carrion but are opportunistic and will prey on small mammals, birds, and reptiles. They also feed on the eggs of other birds, breaking larger ones by tossing a large pebble onto them. An interesting behavior trait is the ability to kill and consume standard fresh water turtles.

Resident in Himalayas; winters south to N. Indian plains. Larger than Eurasian Griffon, with broader body and slightly longer tail. Wing coverts and body pale buffish in adults , contrasting strongly with dark flight feathers and tail, and ruff is buffish. Legs and feet pinkish with dark claws, and has yellowish bill with pale blue cere and facial skin (as opposed to blackish in Eurasian Griffon). Roosts gregariously on crags and when air currents are suitable takes to the air and soars over mountains at great heights and often for long distances. Aggressive when feeding and dominates over all other vultures except Cinereous Vulture. Breeds in mountains, especially along routes well used by pack-animals.
Compare with the flight of Eurasian Griffon.
