This beautiful moth was caught in a light trap outside the center of research "Station Linné" on the Baltic island of Öland. I had the pleasure of staying there for a week in July while teaching a week long macro photography course at the nearby school.

I shot this with my students just as it had been released from the trap. It seemed to be in good shape, but since the sun was shining it seemed unwilling to fly and rather content with resting in the nearby blackthorn bushes. Blackthorn also happens to be a host plant of this species so perhaps it didn't land there by coincidence.
