Frigorifico Santa Rita C-46F-1-CU CP-754 (c/n 22570) was based at La Paz ‘El Alto’ airport as one of the larger meat-haulers in Bolivia. CP-754 was destroyed at Santa Cruz El Trompillo airport (March 1992). The Curtis did not gain sufficient speed on takeoff because of a wet runway. The plane cleared a fence, then struck the ground left wing-first and crashed.

Remarks: Carries 'The Wall Street Journal' titles on the nose. Originally delivered to Delta Air Lines in 1953 as a Convair 340, converted to a Convair 440 in 1969. Apparently, this particuliar ex-Delta Convair 440 performed Delta's last prop flight in April, 1970. Flight originated in Jacksonville, Fl with a stop at Brunswick, then on to Atlanta. Breakfast was served enroute.
