" Cherry Blossom Time", Unframed image size, 14 x 21 inches. Frederick art.
This is a signed print of a painting by Maryland artist Harry Richardson of the cherry blossoms in Baker Park in the city of Frederick, Maryland.
In 1927, the Joseph Dill Baker Family donated 27 acres along Carroll Creek to the city of Frederick. That parcel of land has since grown into over 52 acres along Carroll Creek in the middle of this historic city. This painting features one of the original remaining old Yoshino cherry trees from the original plantings. In the background is the 70 foot tall Baker Carillon, built in 1941 and dedicated to the memory of Joseph Dill Baker. The bell tower supports 49 bronze bells, from 22 pounds to 3,400 pounds.
City Carilloneur John Widmann has played the bells for over 15 years. You may hear the bells at noon on the first and third Sundays of the month and during certain holidays and special events like the Candlelight Church Tour on the evening of December 26.
