"Country Matriarch, The Artist's Grandmother", Watercolor painted by Harry Richardson of his grandmother on her 75th birthday.
In 2011-2012, Harry was invited to exhibit this painting and three other watercolors in a very special show celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, Maryland.
The title of the show was " The Wyeth Family Of Artists And The Wyeth Influence." Many of the Wyeth works were loaned by the Pennsylvania Academy Of Fine Arts and many private collectors. On display until January 15, 2012 were works of art by N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, and his son Jamie, as well as other Wyeth family members and several regional artists like Harry who credit the Wyeths with influencing their own personal painting styles.
The Washington County Museum Of Fine Arts in Hagerstown is a nationally accredited museum with a fabulous art collection. Located overlooking a beautiful lake in the Hagerstown City Park, the museum admission has been free and open to the public since 1931.

This is a print from a watercolor titled " Winter Crossing" by Maryland artist Harry Richardson. The image size is 16 by 23 inches. The Roddy Road covered bridge near Thurmont, Maryland is, at forty feet, the shortest of three historic covered bridges in Frederick County, Maryland. It has a pair of kingpost truss supports inside, and is clad with beveled German siding. Possibly built by the Roddy family in 1856, the bridge is still open to traffic.

The wildfowl in the painting is a male Ring Necked Pheasant, common in the area until the 1970s. This scene was selected by the American Heart Association for its Holiday Card Collection in 1988.

Approx. matted and framed size, 27 x 33 inches. Other sizes available.
