The Caddis Fly, Mystacides longicornis, is easy to identify due to its patterned wings. It has very long antennae and red eyes. The typical form has a striking pattern of brown and yellow shaded bars, but there is a less common variety which is a plain yellow form.

It can be found around ponds, lakes, rivers and canals between May and September. The larval case of this common, widespread species is made of small stones and sand grains.
