I'm not sure who was more surprised to see who!

This Smooth or Common Newt (Triturus vulgaris) paid a visit to our patio tonight!

There were lots of lizards sunning themselves on a logpile at Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Reserve today, and I managed to catch a photo of this fella before he scuttled off!

This Common or Viviparous Lizard (Zootoca vivpara) was so startled by my appearance, and by my taking his photo, that his beetle lunch managed to get away unscathed!

There were several of these little fellas in a wood pile on Woodham Fen, but this was the one that didn't manage to escape! He just froze in terror, allowing me to get a good few shots in!

We spotted one of next door's cats crouching on the fence, looking down into the shrubs very intently, and ready to pounce! When we went out to try and see what it was after we dicsovered it was a beautiful frog!
