I was over at the Glendale Central Library in the afternoon, and saw the newest art exhibit. This profiles Shepard Fairey, who is best known for his "Hope" painting of Obama. (That is on display too.) This is the mural one sees when walking in the room; the mural is located at the back of the room. The exhibit will be on display until April 14.

I got another late afternoon/early evening photo of the sickest looking tree, the one with the droopy blossoms that have faded to pinkish tones. They just seem to be looking worse each day.
There was a time when both trees yielded blossoms that were a bright, robust red. And as annoying as it was (and still is) to have the blossoms drop, needle by needle, to the ground (mostly on cars like mine, parked in the street), they looked far healthier than they do now.

The trees, poinsettias, and the lights make a huge difference once they were put in place in between the two tin soldiers (or nutcrackers). The photo was taken only a few days after the other one was taken; I also managed to take this photo at the same time of day, just to keep it consistent.

I thought I'd try some experimenting with my smartphone's camera settings. Since I've been going there a lot there are fewer things to photograph that I haven't already photographed many times over.
As was the case here. My smartphone has multiple style settings for the camera, so I chose "Dreamy" for this shot. As you can see, the colors are rendered as quite vivid, and in a kind of odd way suggests the color palettes of Wes Anderson's films. If you don't think so, try to use your imagination and give it a shot.

This is what the lobby of the AMC 18 at the Americana looks for now. The studio responsible for these horror movies (Blum House) is promoting all of them, though whether they will be shown in a Halloween marathon at the multiplex, I don't know.
