This is from the last two minutes of a video I was shooting of a long sketch where Queen Elizabeth I had been speaking with Captain Francis Drake (in the background on the far left, in the brown hat), eventually knighting him as Sir Francis Drake. And she also spoke with the less agreeable Ambassador to Spain. Suddenly and without notice, the Queen broke the fourth wall and began to address us in the audience. She was nice enough to approach my camera for a good closeup, before moving on to address the rest of the audience. It was a plea for tolerance and love of country and its citizens. You can see the video at the link below the next paragraph.
This is a frame capture taken from video shot with the Canon PowerShot A1100 IS Digital Camera. It was taken on May 14, 2017, at the Renaissance Faire in Irwindale, California.

I didn't recognize this woman at first. I saw her shortly after I entered the faire itself. She had some CDs of her performance on sale as well. I saw the name, but I can't remember it now. I also realized I had photographed her before, some ten years ago when I was at the faire. Her harpsichord is built exactly like those from the late Elizabethan period. It sounded fairly nice too, despite being nearly drowned out by the crowd nearby.

What else to caption it except, " 'Tis but a scratch"? I asked the guy if he was supposed to be Richard the Lionheart, but he replied no, he was just one of his soldiers. His clothing (except for the headgear) reminded me of Richard Harris as King Richard in the film "Robin and Marian," directed by Richard Lester (lots of Richards here), and written by James Goldman. Richard is returning from the Crusades with Robin Hood (Sean Connery) and Little John (Nicol Williamson), and during an argument with a one-eyed occupant of a castle, the man throws an arrow that hits Richard about the same place as this arrow is located. In the film, Richard dies of blood poisoning, never to return to England. With this guy, he's just looking for sympathy, handouts and will pose for photos (like he did for me).

Or, this could be a display of the Anne Boleyn collection. There were lots of beautiful (and no doubt expensive) dresses for sale at the faire. I often wonder where these people set up shop when they are selling their wares at venues like this?

I'm waiting for someone to come up with a backpack in the shape of a monkey. However, in the mean time, you can grip your monkey as you walk the length and breadth of Great Britain (or perhaps just the fair grounds here), hopefully always being aware that someone put in long hours carving these images from wooden sticks.
