Just in time for Christmas I finished another 1:1 replica of a typical german Christmas decoration.
Wikipedia describes it as following: "Christmas pyramids (German: Weihnachtspyramide) are Christmas decorations that have their roots in the folklore and customs of the Ore Mountain region of Germany, but which have become popular internationally. They comprise a decorated pyramidal outer frame with candle holders and a central carousel with a rotor at the top which is driven by warm air from the lit candles. The carousel is decorated with nativity scenes and other Christmas figures such as angels and wise men, as well as worldly motifs such as mining folk and forest scenes."
Was a good challenge to figure out how to build the hexagon shaped floors and the round discs clean and stable. But I didn't managed to make some detail photos and a video so far. Maybe next year.

It's the first advent today, so about time to decorate your home for Christmas. A nutcracker is one typical decoration where I come from (Ore-mountains, Germany).
And to build one out of lego was on my to do list since 2013, when I built a lego Schwibbogen. Now, I finally did it.

This is a 1:1 replica of a decorative candle-holder from the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) region of Saxony, Germany. I built the most famous design, wich was created 1937 from Paula Jordan for a show in Schwarzenberg. It shows a wood carver, two miners and a bobbin lace maker.

I built the Schwibbogen first in LDD. But some really relevant parts doesn't exist in the color tan. So I had to improvise: I was cutting some of these and used these as a substitute for
slope inverted 33 3x1.
