Image Description: |
Headed to Spears Woods for the first time with a good friend Mark Baldwin this afternoon. Pretty impressive place, lots of great bike trails, good photography spots and horseriding also. Started out on a really bizarre note though, maybe a sign of what 2017 has to offer... We left the car and headed down the trail. Having walked no more than 1/4 of a mile we saw someone coming toward us on the trail, nothing unusual until he got closer to us and shouted out at us... "You two have managed to ruin a good walk with your technological devices" or something to that effect. Bizarre we thought, couldn't figure out what strain of weed he must have been smoking as all we had done was walk down the trail with our backpacks and tripods in hand. We continued on. Of course the trial is a loop, so eventually we ran into him again, this time he had to go right past us, and again... "You and your tripods, in 'nam I used to throw the machine guns away, tripods, ruins everything, tripods". We were quite bemused that someone would take such an issue to people carrying a closed up tripod down a public trail. One of the bizarrest photography episodes I've ever been party to. The killer punch to the tail though... this dude was wondering through the woods with the 'technological marval' that is headphones with a built in radio receiver. He should have brought the tin foil hat with him! |
