Must be View On Black
It was a 4am start this morning to get to lake Michigan before sunrise. A couple of stops on the way and we made it in time. It was a tad chilly, -15-20f with wind chill, still the snow gear kept me plenty warm, too warm if anything, those down feathered ducks are cleverer than they look!
This shot is what I was hoping for, I nearly didn't get it, this was taken after sunrise, I had a 3stop ND filter and a circular polarizer, which gave about 5 stops of slow down to get the mist effect, but it just wasn't enough. This is where photographing as a group comes in handy, especially when you have
Mark.K in that group, the cool thing about Mark is that he likes to carry cool equipment, but never use it.. Tilt-Shift lenses, $400 8 stop vari-grad filters :-). I made use of it to get this shot, and from then on, I don't think it left his lens either :-).
Hope you like the blue tones, complete accident on my part, my custom white balance was still set for sunrise which was a very warm scene, this was much cooler, so the result was very blue. I could have changed it in Lightroom, but it was one of those pleasant accidents that you get quite often in photography, so I left it.
The most annoying thing though, this shot could have been better had my 10 stop filter arrived before today, instead it arrives tomorrow... next weekend!!
