Lochan na Stainge

Lochan na Stainge on Rannoch Moor.

The last few days in Glencoe have seen the best conditions I have encountered during the photographic trips to the area I have made over the past five years. The perfect mix of snow, ice, frost and gorgeous light have made this a trip to remember, with some of the best shots I have made in my photographic journey so far.
I am sure that all those photographers who were in Glencoe over the past 3 days will agree that these conditions don't come around to often and to make the most of these conditions is not always so easy.

This image was made this morning on Rannoch Moor, looking out over Lochan na Stainge towards the Black Mount range as the first glow of the morning hits the peaks.

Black Rock Cottage

We arrived in Glencoe on Saturday just a bit late to make many images so had a quick stop at Black Rock cottage on our way to the hotel. As photographers we tend to have a thing about not looking for those cliche shots, but lets face it there is no reason not to stop when the conditions are like this.

Buachaille Etive Mor, Glencoe

This was the special morning on our trip, the conditions could honestly not have been better. One of those times with perfect light, colours, snow, frost, ice and all without any wind which made it feel warmer than it actually was.

This is one of that famous pointy mountain, with a slight different foreground take.

I hope you don't mind but looking at my images made over the 3 day trip you will be seeing a good few images..hopefully you will enjoy them all.

Loch Tulla - Frozen

A winter wonderland on Loch Tulla, this is a grouping of trees that I've wanted to use for sometime now. The cold wintery conditions made the shot possible, with the frosty foreground grasses, the frozen loch and over to the snow covered mountains in the distance.

Happy New Year 2015

I would just like to wish everyone who has liked my photography page a very Happy New Year. I have really appreciated all your support over the last year with your likes and comments on my photographs, hopefully you will continue to follow me over the next year and enjoy the images I produce.

This is an image from Lochan na Stainge on Rannoch Moor at sunset, one of my own fave images from the trip to Glencoe over the past weekend. I really love the shadows cast by the rocks on the frozen surface.
