Lucky Store located at 110 Broadway in Placerville,CA. This store opened on March 1st, 1960 and was acquired by Albertsons in October 1999. While Albertsons ran just about all of the Lucky stores into the ground and closing many locations throughout their eight year tenure up in Northern California. Lucky built a new store in 1978 at the Prospectors Plaza Shopping Center on the other side of Placerville but amazingly Albertsons kept both stores operating. Both of the stores along with all of Albertsons Northern California locations (172 stores) were purchased by Save Mart in January 2007. Only 72 were rebranded under the LUCKY name with the others getting the Save Mart name. Since this store has made it through the transitions over the years and is still operating (albeit without the Lucky name) it might just be the oldest store Lucky built which is still open and not expanded. With Save Mart occupying the space the future of this building is far more secure than it was with Albertsons.
