Former Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge and Restaurant located at 224 West Boundary St. in Savannah,GA. The motor lodge is currently serving as college housing for the nearby Savannah College of Art and Design while the restaurant is currently occupied by a Savannah Tourism Center and an independently owned restaurant which is operating under the name Stoners Pizza. The exterior of the gate lodge was never squared off and remarkably still has its beacon tower partially intact. The building is currently serving as a computer lab and recreation center for SCAD residents and is not accessible to the public. The restaurant which dropped its affiliation with HJ by the early 1990s was converted into an independently owned restaurant which operated under the name Caribbean Creole Cafe. The eatery closed by the early 2000s and the building was renovated for its current occupants. Unfortunately the future of the (former) motor lodge doesn't look too promising as SCAD has been on a redevelopment spree and with new housing adjacent to this complex its (almost) inevitable that this property which was constructed in 1964 will be replaced.
Note the unique design of the roof of the restaurant which slants up ever so slightly. I should also note that the restaurant seemed a bit larger than others built at that time.

UPDATE 01/16/2022...
The gate lodge was demolished in late 2018.

Note that this HJ Motor Lodge which remained in operation for 50 years never had its gate lodge "squared off" and retained its original brickwork on the room wings.
