‘Kings Arms’, 2 Church Street, Haworth. Thursday 20 March 2025
This is the third and final pub in the trio that all face each other at the top of Haworth’s famous steep cobbled main street. Walking distance between the entrances to all three is less than 20 seconds.
The Kings Arms is a 17th century former manor house. It has an L-shaped bar area and the pub is on two levels with a separate quieter area to the rear. It is pleasantly decorated with pale painted wood panelling, some exposed stone work and timber and tiled/laminate flooring. The current private rooms upstairs were home to the Manorial Courts, and at one time the local undertaker used the cellar as a mortuary.
Six real ales are sold from hand pumps and meals are served daily 12:00 – 20:00. Pub opening hours are 12:00 – 22:00 Sundays – Thursdays and 12:00 to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. There are music events and open mic evenings. Family and dog friendly. Outside seating area. Unfortunately the pub does not have a website so you do not know what culinary delights are available on their food menu and the cost of them.
I first visited the ‘Kings Arms’ with a friend on Saturday 19 April 2003 and my last visit was on Saturday 16 June 2007. The pub is around 15 minutes’ walk from Haworth railway station with the walk being quite challenging as its all uphill and very steep.
