Rockbound lake trail is an 18.0-km out-and-back trail near Lake Louise, Alberta, considered a challenging route. We started in the early morning, to get the parking spot, the parking lot was full quickly. A steady uphill trek takes you 8km to this magnificent alpine lake nestled in a horseshoe of towing rock. The trail enters the horseshoe behind Castle Mountain passing by Tower Lake before pushing the final km of switchbacks to Rockbound Lake. We were excited when we saw the yellow larches at Tower Lake. It was fantastic with Castle Mountain as a backdrop and the golden larch trees reflection in the water. Continued to Rockbound Lake, the final a half mile of climbing was tough, slippery, and muddy. But we had this reward on the top! The most beautiful glowing latches and the lake was 360 degrees surrounded by mountains. The clouds covered the mountain tops making us feel like we were on top of the world. But the light just lasted a few minutes. It was snowing, the visibility was very low, we had to climbed down before the snow covered the road...
