I had thought of taking a shot like this for a while, I went out last night purely to take some storm shots. The spot I went to had Hosmers Skinks (Egernia hosmeri) crawling around everywhere so I gave it a crack. It is a 30 second exposure with the flash firing once at the beginning, I adjusted the focus after the flash fired to get the lightning in focus. It took a few goes but i'm very happy to have got such a unique shot. Mount Guide, Mount Isa, QLD.

A technique that I really enjoy, it has taken quite a bit of practice to get this style of shot to work. I think it is finally getting close to what I want. It is difficult to show nocturnal animals in their natural habitat which is why I have been playing with this technique for a while now. Gehyra robusta, Galah Creek, Mount Isa, QLD.

I usually find these fellas on Gidgee (Acacia cambagei), however this one was on a dead Snappy Gum (Eucalyptus leucophloia). A first for me. Amalosia rhombifer. Lake Moondarra, Mount Isa, QLD.
