The De Queen & Eastern has just picked up a cut of cars from KCS' neighbouring mainline as they trundle over the Little Bear Creek in De Queen, Arkansas. Lead locomotive no. D-7 was purchased new from EMD in 1966 and has spent its entire working life on this sweet little railroad in the South. The crew greeted us with waves and a friendly "how y'all doing".

Amongst the stillness of the Ouachita National Forest are ancient pines, gentle rivers and the Kansas City Southern. On a gorgeous Sunday morning in Rich Mountain, Arkansas this bucolic scene was abruptly disrupted by a southbound hotshot as it thundered down the line. Of course, us railfans couldn't be happier with the passage of this handsome pair of Belles. But man o' man, those 70ACe's have horns that'll wake the dead.
