I waited for months to have this alignment of Steptoe Butte with the moon. I was lucky to find a road that lead into the scene just as the moon appeared during sunset.

That winter 08 we has the most snow fall in years. The snow melt creating this lake. It was only there for a week. The water was about a foot deep with about a half foot of mud below that. I did my best to capture the scene how I saw it. It's hit or miss for me. Let me know what you think. Ry

Steptoe can have some weird anomalies about it. I've seen this a couple times. Not sure if it's from the Qi vortex near the top. Enjoy, Ry

That morning I awoke early to set out for this photo. The morning was dry and windy, dust filled the air. As the first signs of light showed it was blood red. I was in a hurry to arrive a Steptoe Butte. Having no time or a strong visual scene to work with I pressed on hoping to capture something amazing. When I reach the top of Steptoe the winds were blowing about 20mph. I shielded the camera and tripod with my body and began clicking away. This was one of the last frames I captured that morning. The clouds soon blocked the sky out leaving me breathless that I was able to capture the whole thing. I learned later a volcano had erupted in Alaska causing dramatic sunsets and sunrises. I believe this was one of them. Enjoy, Ry
