The former Newport News Babies R Us has finally seen some life inside it again, even though it's only temporarily. Halloween City has set-up shop here; my biggest takeaway from this is that it's very peculiar that they chose this space over the former Toys R Us across the street, where their parent company Party City is a direct neighbor. Maybe it was cheaper to rent here? I dunno. Anyways, they're using up most of the salesfloor, with the remaining portions shelved off and with the lights above turned off. All of BRU's department signage is still intact, and their soft, easy colors and appearance hilariously clash with the black tones and creepy decorations used by Halloween City! I felt tempted to explore the "abandoned" parts of the building, including the restrooms, but it was a Sunday and the store was kinda busy and well staffed so ultimately I decided not to sneak off.
