Unless the CinéBistro at Stony Point Fashion Park reopens, I'm officially out of RVA multiplexes to visit after checking out the Midlothian AMC. It was here I decided to kick off October with Hocus Pocus in auditorium 6. Surprisingly, this is RVA's only AMC, and it doesn't really feel like one due to its' former life as a Carmike and its' full service dining experience. Like Cinema Café and Movie Bistro there is no concession stand in the lobby, instead featuring a bar, and meals are brought into the auditoriums that are equipped with seating with swivel trays. Most of the building is colored with warm tans, blues, and browns, providing a mellow ambience. There's definitely an attempt being made here to have the theater feel sophisticated, and I'd say it works, despite my favoritism for old school neon infused theaters.
