While in Maryland I figured it wouldn't hurt to check out a Chuck E. Cheese's or two in case locations either closed or were renovated. Laurel was the first stop; it's a former Showbiz, and has the same layout as the old Virginia Beach Showbiz: ordering/prize counter, kitchen, salad bar, and restroom hallway to the left, showroom and gameroom to the right. The location went through a "phase 4" renovation sometime in the mid-late 2000s, which is characterized by the purple walls, removal of showroom walls, uncanny artwork of children, and other pieces of artwork featuring Chuck E. in his "avenger" getup. Also interesting is the way the gameroom and showroom are both a little sunken and accessed by stairs/ramp, definitely an old design choice by Showbiz that you probably wouldn't see nowadays!
