For CEC visit #2 of the day, I backtracked to Mentor and stopped by their Erie Commons location. CEC's history in this shopping center is interesting: back in June 1982 a Pizza Time Theatre opened in another tenant space, but by fall 1991 its' franchisee decided to cease operations and the location (in addition to a few others) was purchased by Marc Glassman, owner of the Marc's store chain in Ohio. It was converted to a "Marc's Funtime Pizza Palace", utilizing CEC's buildout and business concept but swapping out anything with the CEC IP with whatever Marc's could come up with. They lasted until 1995, and three years later another franchisee decided to bring CEC proper back to the center. Thus, we have this current location! As an inline tenant space they went with the horizontal layout, placing the kitchen area in the back right corner, the showroom in the back left, and the games floor across the front of the building in two sections. This is essentially the same layout as one like Chesapeake Sams Circle, but with the games and kiddie rides placement flip-flopped and the restrooms to the right of the prize counter.
