Big Lots #5348 (51,235 square feet)

Opened in summer 2017; originally part of W.T. Grant's/Grant City (opened in September 1971), later King's Department Store (late 1970s-August 1982), Winn-Dixie Marketplace (1995-March 2005), Farmer's Foods (opened in fall 2010), Food Depot (October 2013-summer 2014)

I ended my day in the Tri-Cities with a look at the Hopewell Big Lots; it's housed in what used to be Grant's/King's department stores, but was more notably converted to a Winn-Dixie Marketplace that later became smaller supermarket businesses. The store opened in summer 2017 and store number-wise it comes just before this Virginia Beach location, so the two stores share a similar aesthetic and buildout, just with the layout reversed (like furniture to the left instead of the right). Department signage consists of a few orange signs hanging from the warehouse style ceiling, and the flooring is new white tilework; this means that the only real Winn-Dixie remnant is the horizontal entryway, as even the restrooms in the front left corner of the salesfloor appear to have been built out for Big Lots (Winn-Dixie usually stuck restrooms in the back left corner, as seen at another Winn-Dixie-turned-Big Lots in Gloucester). This was the only Big Lots left in this region that I hadn't yet documented, and now I just need to check out locations in Fredericksburg and Culpeper!
