Bojangles #1316 (3,724 square feet)

Opened January 1st, 2022

I may not have gotten Bojangles yesterday like I would've preferred, but they ended up getting my business today in Richmond when the KFC I tried eating at nearby in Brookhill Azalea Shopping Center had their doors locked again (this was my third attempt at going there). So all's well that ends well, I suppose! This Bojangles opened a little over two years ago, at the same time another identical location opened on Laburnum Avenue; at the time of writing they are both the newest locations in the Richmond/Tri-Cities area. While the Chesapeake location I've been itching to visit uses a smaller shoebox type of building, this Richmond location is really just a refreshed version of the area's building style from the early 2010s; compare this one to this Chester location from 2013 and they have the exact same layout and buildout, just with a smaller dining room there. That also includes not having self-serve drinks at the condiment station, which does bring things down a notch. The aesthetic still has some of the older charm with the wood laminate booths but still manages to feel modern enough, similar to this Suffolk location. It's just cool to see the company still commit to this particular building style after all these years (the work permit for construction was filed in 2017, so that may explain things), and I just like that they still offer different types of buildings in general. I hope to visit more Bojangles locations in Richmond as time goes on!
