Agfa Record III. Kodak Portra 800
This image might look familiar. I earlier posted a shot from this vantage point that I took on my Graflex Pacemaker Crown Graphic large format camera. I didn't have to do any of the fancy tricks with this scan that I had to do with the large format scan I posted earlier. This is principally because I can scan the medium format film from my Agfa with the Nikon Coolscan which is far superior to the Epson Perfection that I have to use to scan the large format film from my Crown Graphic.

Agfa Record III folding 6x9 medium format camera with Kodak Portra 800 negative film.
I find it so strange. I've been shooting with my Mamiya M645 on medium format and happily getting sharp scans all these years. Suddenly, I get this 6x9 camera (same film, twice the image size) and I can't get a sharp scan. Well, OK, I can. I just seem to be putting in a hell of a lot of effort to get there. Good old glass sandwhich time! Anyway, here is a scan that resolves the grain across the frame. The remaining softness you can see is from the photograph. Some slight movement on the tripod? Focus off? Not enough aperture? Limited lens sharpness? Well, hold judgement until you see the next shot. I think we can rule out the lens being unsharp. Even here, the nearby sparkles on the water are quite sharp. Infinity slightly off? Well, maybe. But in the next shot you will see even the stuff at infinity much sharper than here...
Anyway, good old Doha at night. I hope I don't bore everyone with too many shots of it. In my defense it is constrantly evolving.

Not bad for a pocket camera, eh? This isn't a stitch of several frames, it's a crop of one frame.
