The weather was pretty bad outside today. So decided to take a picture of my guitar's Rosette. At the same time testing my manual 135mm F/2.8 lens. Use two studio 5500K FL light with umbrellas on both sides of the guitar, three of the guitar strings are dark, so in order to get some reflection on them, have to move the left light all the way to the side. Sorry about the dust, the guitar is always on a stand, so I can grab any time and make noise. Press "L" for a large view, look much better.
(Note: Exif data never show f/stops of manual focus lenses with adapters.)

Composition: Stop on my way to Sanford, to take a picture of an old building. Then notice the palm tree shade over this window. Trying to use the shadow as part of the composition. Rule of thirds is a simple guideline to help us position the main subject in art and photography. Remembering is a helpful concept, not a law.

Just expose for the sky or underexpose to create silhouettes. As you can see, these are not fully silhouettes, because you can see some details on them.
