All of us, marching endlessly across the metal tree. A hunt for a worthy fight, to sting and bite and feed. A larger two legged insect with one large eye approaches, it's clicking and snapping sounds bombard us, with him easing in towards the heart of our pack. My brothers anchor, web rope to our metal home, each one fearlessly launching themselves to our attacker. His single eye shutters, two hands clasped about the side of his face as he looms overhead. I am ready my brothers, he will pause, he will stare and capture the moment, and then I will strike. (Short story by my son: G.S. Santi), (pen name). Model: Lyssomanes viridis (Male Magnolia Green Jumper).

(Press L for Large view). Using a a Reverse Mount Adapter Ring on my 24mm manual focus lens, was able to achive more than 2:1 macro ratio. This mini wild flower was about 12mm in diameter and this setup was able to cover about 9mm wide area on a crop sensor camera; a 1:1 Macro lens will cover only about 22mm wide area. Is almost like getting into photomicrography.
Technical Info: A very common wildflower, the daisy fleabane (Erigeron annuus), Canon EOS 40D, reverse mounted Tamron 24mm f2.5 Adaptall, ISO: 800, f/5.6, 1/350. Edit on Lightroom CC

Kari Salomon gave me the idea of trying salt with the same setup, to compare reflectivity, refraction, and crystal shape. Because the image came out too similar, try with flash instead of led lights, in order to get more details. As you can see, they look similar, but salt is more square and box shape. Press "L" for large and then "Esc" to come back. My Macro/Micro World

Great to know that an ugly caterpilar, like this Gulf Fritillary or agraulis vanillae caterpillar can turn later into a beautiful butterfly. Press "L" for large and then "Esc" to come back.
