Use my vintage Vivitar 283 Flash at half power to light the hand. Then with a mini magnalite painted the glass cup from the top, for about a minute to gave a very intense color. Then with a mini LED keychain did some spot lights. Later at the editor added the star effect to the highlights. Just trying to create some physiograms. A physiogram is a single long exposure of a flashlight spinning around on a string that is tied to a ceiling. Press "L" for large and then "Esc" to come back. The feature to get highlights and different tones in the light trails is, to use a regular flashlight, not an LED one. And then cover the head of the flashlight with a circular shape cardboard and cut a 1mm hole in the center. Make sure there is no light leaks around, by using black electrical tape. This helps bring different brightness of the flashlight reflector, while is swinging and moving around.
Data: Canon 40D, f/27, 2 min 10 sec, ISO: 100, Lens: Canon EF 20-35 @ 24mm, Full frame equivalent of: 38mm, Mode: Manual, EV: 0, Image stabilizer: NA, Filter: none, Support: on floor, Remote: yes, Process: Canon Digital Photo Professional, file: 120507_40D002, Date: May 7, 2012.

Love time exposures on a traffic intersection. Use a small ISO and aperture (bigger number) to get the longest exposure possible.

Press "L" for a large view. This is my first Olympus OM-1n. I remember using many SLR cameras from my time, and in my opinion this is the best camera of all. Almost a perfect camera. the only flaw was the inaccurate light meter. Wonderful camera to travel, lightweight and the handling and viewfinder is the best of any camera.
Made this image with the Light Painting technique. Painting with light is the best way to illuminate a subject, when you need to create unique and dramatic lighting. Because you can apply the light on the specific areas you want. Here I use a regular small LED flashlight, and stay longer painting over the areas were I wanted more highlights and reflections.

Another rainy day. So took one of my son canvas, to try an idea. Instead of paint, did it with a LED flashlight and colored gels. The real exposure time was the 2 minutes of applying different colors, the rest of the time was changing the color gels and making sure light was not spilling on other colors. All this can be done with a small dimmer light on the floor, to avoid accidents, if you use f/22 and ISO 100. Data: Canon 40D, f/22, 5min 46sec, ISO: 100, Lens: Canon EF 20-35 @ 20mm, Full frame equivalent of: 32mm, Mode: Manual, EV: 0, Image stabilizer: NA, Filter: none, Support: Dolica AX620B100 Tripod, Remote: yes, Process: Canon Digital Photo Professional, file: 120516_40D078, Date: May 16, 2012.
