All flowers are wonderful and beautiful, but my favorite one is this wildflower, the passiflora. Every year from May to August I always go to the park to check and admire these beauties. Took this photo under the sun at more than 95 degrees. My camera and lens were so hot while taking the pictures that have to turn off the camera to cool it down.

When examining close the new Florida woodlands, you will find a lot of fallen trees. Tropical storms and hurricanes are the main culprits; when wind and a lot of rainfall combine with the heavyweight of trees on sandy ground with no rocks, then the conditions are perfect for trees to fall. Every 25 years Florida gets hit by more than 85 storms and Florida trees can range from 2 tons to over 20 tons.

If you remember from your high school biology classes, genes are given to the seed from each parent. These genes will express differently as they combine, leading to different physical characteristics in an individual. While some tree species can self-pollinate; the wind, gravity, insects, and birds are the prime distributors of tree pollen to the female flowers, which will result in seed production. This is a dandelion seed but the same principle applies to maples, pines, and most trees. (PennState, College of Agricultural Science).

A ground section of an upland hardwood forest populated by big old Live oak trees. You can see here most of the elements of this ancient forest, fallen dry leaves, Spanish moss, small branches, and a typical plant or vine; components that will enrich the soil.
