Was running up the staircase when I saw this fellow, through the window, on the coconut tree growing in the backyard. It was very cloudy and so I had to be steady with the camera. This was clicked when it detected me, though being dark it may not have seen me clearly. These are large birds at 48 cm. whose heads are black, upper mantle and underside black glossed with purple. Back and wings are chestnut brown and eyes ruby red. Diet consists of a wide range of insects, caterpillars and small vertebrates including snakes. I have seen one with a snake in its beak. I don't see them often though I hear their booming low cry virtually every day.
