The Volvo 700 Series was designed by Jan Wilsgaard. It was meant to become the replacement of the Volvo 200 Series. But the successful 200 Series was finally continued till the 1990s.
The 700 Series soon was followed up by the 1990-1998 Volvo 900 Series.
