The lovely Green's Point Lighthouse at dawn. I took this picture on my last day in New Brunswick. I had scouted this lighthouse on my three-ferry day travelling from Grand Manan to the mainland to Deer Island to Campobello Island. That day was sunny with blue skies, but the lighthouse was so lovely I knew I wanted to come back if I got some overcast skies, which I did on my last day. I took the first (6am) ferry from Deer Island to L'Etete and was able to photograph the lighthouse at dawn before heading to Saint John for my flight home.
This is the last of the mini-series of lighthouses I shot on my trip to New Brunswick. I hope you enjoyed them. Stay tuned for the main series of fishing weirs, hopefully coming soon.

I recently got back from a wonderful trip to New Brunswick. The main aim of the trip was to photograph fishing weirs. Despite that, I just couldn't resist photographing some lighthouses, including this lovely one on Campobello Island, so I'll start my postings from that trip with a short series of lighthouse images. It will take me a while to go through and process the weir images, so stay tuned for those!
Mulholland Point Lighthouse first went into operation in 1885. It overlooks the Lubec Narrows between New Brunswick (Canada) and Maine (United States). The land you see in the background is Maine and the boats you can see are in Lubec harbour, Maine, though the lighthouse itself is in Canada.

The second image in this small lighthouse series from New Brunswick.
This is Head Harbour Lighthouse (also known as East Quoddy). It has been in operation nearly 200 years (since 1829). The lighthouse is built on a rocky island, only accessible on foot at or near low tide. The ladder on the left would help you get down to the sea floor, which you could see if this wasn't taken near high tide.
One of the reasons I was excited about this trip was the chance to do some long exposure work again. I used to photograph with ND (neutral density) filters quite a lot, but I haven't done it much since 2019. It was great to get back to it - there is something really fun about not knowing exactly how a 30 or 60 or 120 second image will turn out.

The beautiful Liberty grain elevator. Built in 1911, closed in 2000 and now privately owned. The owner kindly gave me a tour of this beauty, showing off the stacked 2x6s with which it is built and which are still holding it up.
