For a brief time that night, the Aurora glowed red. This is a selfie at Waterfowl Lake in Banff National Park.

This pic is from a lovely week I spent in the Rockies (Banff and Jasper) with Jim. If you'd like, take a look at the rest of the images from my 2015 trip to the Rockies..

You can also take a look at my other night photography images.

A bit of fun here. In the many, many takes it took to get this shot - running back and forth to the camera - not a single car came by. A lovely dark, quiet evening at McKenzie Pass in the Cascades.

If you'd like, feel free to take a look at my other night photography images.

I've also put this image in with my others from my two trips to the Pacific Northwest (Oregon/Washington)

I went to the Bonavista Peninsula in Newfoundland because I knew it was wonderfually dramatic but also in hopes of seeing icebergs. I did see two - one of them very close to this spot on Tickle Cove - but even hunting for them was fun.

If you'd like to see more from Newfoundland, take a look at my Maritimes album. There are more selfies in my Selfie album.

This enormous driftwood log (well, a whole tree, really) washed ashore in La Push in 2010. It's now pretty much permanently embedded in the sand.

First Beach, La Push, Washington

In August 2014, I went to conference in Seattle and was able to add on a few days each on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington and the Columbia River Gorge near Portland to take pictures. The rest of my pictures from these two short trips can be found in my Washingont/Oregon album
