I have been absent from Flickr for a little while (my apologies!), but I have a good excuse. I was away for 3 weeks on an amazing trip to Japan. The trip centered around a seascape photo workshop with Rohan Reilly and Stephen Cairns, but I also travelled to Tokyo, Kyoto and Koyasan. I absolutely fell in love with Japan, as I know many photographers do. It's taken a few weeks to process the images, but here is my first.
Meoto Iwa - the wedded rocks - are an often-photographed site, but still amazing to see and shoot. These two, the husband and wife, are joined by a substantial (and heavy) rice straw rope which must be changed a number of times a year.

The whole family. This is my second picture from this amazing place on a great workshop with Rohan Reilly and Stephen Cairns. The wedded rocks (the two joined by the rope) represent a married couple, so it seems the other rocks should represent the children - and this image represents the whole family.

The torii gate at Shiraghige shrine sits in in the waters of Lake Biwa, making for an amazing sight and a wonderful, minimalist image.

From a little earlier in the morning on our second visit to Shirahige. I loved the moodiness of the clouds on this early morning visit and so wanted to produce at least one image that showed them. It was tough shooting in the (sometimes) pouring rain, but a joy to see this gorgeous place in such dramatic conditions.

This picture was taken on the same morning as the my two pictures of Shirahige. At first the skies were socked in and you couldn't see the opposite shore, but slowly they started to clear and looked like this. What an amazing morning of photography that was.
