At the kind invitation of an old friend, I visited Manitoba (Canada) in December and stayed at his cabin on Lake Winnipeg. I had so much fun photographing the wonderfully colourful ice fishing huts on the lake that I've created a little series of them. I hope you enjoy them.

Even though you can go ice fishing for a day with a tent (which we did, including using an auger to drill a hole in the two-foot thick ice) these ice fishing huts are semi-permanent. When the ice gets thick enough, they are towed onto the ice and stay there the whole winter. While photographing, I met a man who said he had lived in his hut the whole of last winter.
