At this time of the year, I usually do a winter photography trip, often to the Prairies. I had a flight booked to Regina but with warm temperatures and little to no snow – there have been unprecedented brown Christmases all over the Prairies this year - I ended up cancelling. I was hugely disappointed to miss out on this trip, but I have my fingers crossed for snow in February (the next time I can travel).
Luckily for me, I got a chance to do a bit of photography here in Toronto on a foggy Christmas day. I photographed a few condo buildings in my area and then shot the Absolute Condos in Mississauga (the image here). Given that they have been around for over 10 years, I must be the only Toronto photographer who hadn’t shot them yet!
The Absolute Condos are twisted twin towers of 50 and 56 stories. Soon after plans for them were announced, the more curvaceous one was nicknamed ‘Marilyn’ after Marilyn Monroe, with the other one is known as ‘Joe’ after Joe DiMaggio. I had a great time photographing Marilyn and Joe on that foggy day and have made a small series of the images.
