This is my brother, Harley's, dog, Quix, ready to pounce on something no human can see. Half of a down is better than no down, isn't it? He's a typical Border Collie - you either love 'em or you hate 'em. Of course, I'm one of the ones who loves 'em.
I liked the location at UCSD so much that I went there for a second day, but unfortunately, the overnight rain and wind had pretty much denuded the trees of leaves. There were still quite a few on the ground, though.

No, wait! Harley's my brother. This is my brother Harley's dog, boB, which is Bob, spelled backwards. I guess Harley is a big fan of palindromes. A couple of people told me that everybody who meets them confuses their names, so I thought I'd go along with the joke. That's Harley's better half in the background.
I just spent the weekend with them, at a 2-day agility trial, in Santa Rosa. I had a great time and learned a lot about agility and shooting it. I figure that I'm at about the same level in each, which is rank beginner. After this weekend, I'm especially anxious to be running my own dog, Roso, in trials, but I know it's going to take tons of practice, as is getting a higher percentage of keepers of the images that I make.

Last time I shared a photo of my brother's dog, I said that he wasn't ready to compete, yet, but on Feb 8, they entered their first agility trial together. Harley: "Our record was 5Q's for 5 runs. A 4th in Jumpers and Snooker and 1st in Pairs, Standard, and Gamblers." I'm impressed!
Here's a link to a video of his first run: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lwi3ymQPDk Somebody made the video on Harley's iPhone, with a clip-on lens attachment. I'm pretty impressed with that, too.
If you think that Quix looks a little wild-eyed, I have to say that I agree with you. But I also have to say that that is good, considering the sharpness of his eyes.
