Rhodes Town near the southern harbour is the old walled city, which was established in 408BC, but built mainly in the early 14th century by the Knights of St John of Jerusalem.
The Colossus of Rhodes (one of the Seven Wonders of the World) is supposed to have straddled this harbour entrance.
It was a Sunday so the locals were out fishing and relaxing.

There were hundreds of people on the Acropolis in Athens, some how I managed to get this without anybody in it.Construction of the Erechtheum, situated to the north of the Acropolis, began in 421 BC. After being suspended in 414 BC and resumed in 409 BC, work was completed in 407 BC. The building is named after Erechtheus, one of the mythical kings of Athens. It is one of the most elaborate buildings on the Acropolis and surviving accounts reveal that it was especially costly to build. Because of the space available for its construction and the need to preserve important earlier sanctuaries around and within the area on which it was to be built, the plan of the Erechtheum is irregular. For example, in the same area were many important remains of Athens's mythical past, such as the olive tree that was given to the city by Athena. The most sacred image of Athena, the wooden statue of the goddess, was also kept inside the building. The Erechtheum is a splendid example of Ionic architecture. The south porch is fronted by six female statues, the Caryatids.
