Deutsche Welle
Köln
Planungsgruppe Stieldorf, 1980

The old Deutsche Welle office tower is in the process of being demolished as its colleague the Deutschlandfunk Tower on the left looks on.
The Deutsche Welle has long since taken up residence in Bonn in a very nice building by Joachim Schürmann, which was originally being built for the the parliament members when Bonn was still the capitol. It's unwelcome claim to fame was when, during construction, the Rhein flooded and the base of the building bobbed-up on the groundwater, as the systems to create an equilibrium with the ground- and floodwater were not implemented in time.

Anyway, sorry to see this landmark come down. It was a nice ensemble.

If you look in the album 'Deutsche Welle' you can see what it used to look like.
