A Sandwich Tern flies just off the shoreline searching for something to eat. These birds can plunge-dive from heights as low as a few feet to as high as 25 feet or more to catch small fish, like shiner perch, yellow perch, and sunfish.

This photo on the downbeat - I'll post one on the upbeat in the comments.

I'll add one over the water.

They are fairly quick moving birds and turn fairly rapidly - I'll look to post a plunge dive photo soon.

A racoon deciding whether I'm safe - or not.

A male and female Wood Duck sitting on a branch in a mangrove swamp.

It took multiple visits and lots of waiting before I got a clear photo through the mangrove roots of this pair. They spend most of their day out of the water.

I thought the female were fairly drab - but they have the white patch around the eye and white feathers lower on their body with dark blue feathers surrounding them - as well as some that seem to cover the spectrum of a rainbow.

They don't let me get very close - this is shot at about 700mm given a R7 was used. If I get any closer they jump into the water and swim further into the swamp.
