this one must be from the early sixties, I think.

bloc's sculptures resemble architectural models and deal with architectural problems. a series of sculptures show how to create rich compositions out of limited, identical pieces, but most, like this one, display a kind of gentle, abstract, free-form modernism.

the architect of this fine house did not train as an architect, he chose a different career from what he trained as, but that career was also not as an architect, and in the final decades of his life he was recognized as an artist in a field that was not what he trained as, not his professional career and not architecture.

and yet, as his own house shows, he was a very capable architect.

he even had an architect protege who has a cult following today, and the protege of this protege is a famous starchitect.
