On August 22, 2024, employees of NASA’s Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility used helium to inflate the scientific balloon that carried the Salter Test Flight payload to 126,000 feet. The balloon’s volume, when fully expanded at maximum altitude, was 11 million cubic feet (311,000 cubic meters).
