Some 23 years ago, we stayed in a holiday cottage at the beautiful Halgabron Mill, between Tintagel and Boscastle on the North Cornwall coast (See map). Halgabron is actually in St. Nectan's Glen and we always intended to take the walk up the Glen to the ultimate goal, the waterfall at St. Nectan's Kiev. However, my wife being heavily pregnant with number 2 son at the time, it never happened. We put that to right this year and I'm glad we did!
I wouldn't like to guess how long it is since this tree fell across the brook but it would have been interesting to be there! It's now, slowly but surely disapearing into the undergrowth.
Knowing thet the treck was fairly long, steep and muddy, I left the tripod in the car....bad move! So this is taken (as seems to be happening ever more frequently) "shooting blind" from waist height with the 5D II set at ISO 2,000 and f8 to give a fairly slow shutter speed. Same shot taken 5 times and this one was the pick of the crop! (Sorry to go on. You never know. Someone out there might find it interesting?!?)
