This is the cover of the 2008 "Coal Ships" calendar (which I have produced for the company that I work for for the last 5 years. It is a collection of photographs of ships that we have worked on in the previous 12 months, originally all taken by me but now open to contribution by folks that work with us. This one is by my good friend, Paul Coombes. Thanks, Paul!

This is January's pic in the 2008 "Coal Ships " Calendar. Taken by me from the deck of the ferry using a borrowed Olympus compact. Not a very good pic but I just had to get a snap of one of our ships whilst I was there. I very nearly froze to death in the process! She is loading 63,600 tonnes of coal, bound for Liverpool.

February's effort, taken by me in March 2007, shows the Genco Trader (64,000 tonnes) just commencing discharge and the North Princess (67,000 tonnes) approaching completion. Note how much higher in the water she is sitting.

The pic for March is a re-hash of one from earlier in my stream, this one with the bulk of the forestry in the foreground hacked back a bit with Photoshop CS3's Machette tool!!. The Maddalena is only half full at 35,000 tonnes but is restricted by the depth of water in the Tyne. This photograph by kind permission of Port of Tyne

My good friend Andrew Rolland had his finger on the button for April's shot of the Hispania Greace offloading 55,000 tonnes of coal on th Thames. Thanks, Andrew.
