Yesterday, the first Monday in October, was the start of the first week of my retirement, And what an absolutely glorious day it was, too! We decided that it would be a "National Trust Day" so we got the book out the night before and plumped for Lyme Park, near Stockport, Cheshire. The bad news started when, just inside the main entrance to the house, I took the Canon Eos 5DII out of my bag and switched it on......NO MEMORY CARD!!! It continued when I took out the Powershot SX50...battery on its last legs!!! The good news is that this left me with little choice other than to use my new Samsung Galaxy S7 phone for virtually the whole day. In a way, I'm glad it happened this way. Some of the results are, to me at least, quite amazing.
This one is "straight out of the tin" (apart from the framing) with the camera set in "Pano" mode.

It was back at the beginning of October that we visited Lyme Park, near Stockport, Cheshire. The bad news started when, just inside the main entrance to the house, I took the Canon Eos 5DII out of my bag and switched it on......NO MEMORY CARD!!! The good news was that this gave me an excellent opportunity to see how my new Samsung Galaxy S7 phone could perform as a fall-back camera. As it turned out, I think it did pretty well, particularly with the quite dimly lit interior shots.
