Having tried, time and again, to photograph the interior of Durham Cathedral, fate (?) decreed that, on the day we drove up to South Shields for a long weekend, the cathedral was staging one of its "Photographers' Evenings". I had a great time, got some pretty reasonable pics and met some very nice people. A good night, all round!

Knowing that it will probably be a long time before I get another opportunity to photograph inside Durham Cathedral, I went PREPARED! First off, here is a pair of shots of the Rose Window taken with the Nikon P900. Both are HDR triplets (+/- 1 stop) and are taken from the same spot at the opposite end of the Nave, some 45 metres from the window. This was a special "Photographers' Evening". I counted 11 snappers plus about the same number of staff. You couldn't have wished for a nicer set of people!

Looking directly up at the underside of the tower of Durham Cathedral. The Astronomical Clock is on the right, the North Window on the left and the view, through the Quire Screen, to the Rose Window is at the bottom. HDR triplet, taken with a Sigma 8mm fisheye lens on the Eos 5DII
