I've wanted to visit the Indian Peaks for quite awhile, and finally made the time this morning. I got up early, got to Brainard Lake before sunrise, and had a super surprise as the sun came up. The color was amazing. Shortly after this image was made, the rain hit hard and I decided to head up to the Long lake trailhead and start my hike up to Lake Isabelle.

While driving the mile up to the trailhead, I saw a rainbow that stretched from behind the lake to the left of the lake. It was clearly 3D, not like most rainbows seen in the distance. Unfortunately, I was no longer in a good location to capture that! I got part with my cell phone, but it really didn't convey the feeling this morning.

It rained on me a couple of times, was windy for awhile, but ultimately the sun came out as the clouds fled east.

I hoped to see a moose, but no luck. I saw a couple of black squirrels in the woods, then as I approached the treeline near Lake Isabelle, I saw a marmot and a pika.
