Whispered wind, fast failing light and high pressure produced this gentle pink coloured scene for two boats making for home before dark. The moorings are crowded with craft in the summer but bare in winter as protection against the ravages of storms. It has such an open feel, unhurried except by the flooding tide at Itchenor in Chichester Harbour UK.

Just about th pack up because of bad light and the Yarmouth Lifeboat dashed along towards Hurst Castle, showing its blue light, going to an emergency off the Needles.

The South Downs above Kingley Vale open this vista of Chichester Harbour and the Solent beyond to the Isle of Wight.

It seems a bit strange to North American eyes to find that our Downs are really Ups! The rolling hills of England.

Taken at low tide to show the Thorney and Emsworth Channels of Chichester Harbour with their mud flats and salt marsh below the mixture of fields and woods - showing the diverse agricultural and marine economy which makes up this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
